How to choose an attendance system

Choose a system by your daily work, not by its advertising. These questions make the decision easier.

1. How is attendance recorded

Face recognition terminals, cards and phone apps suit different workplaces. A face terminal works well for an office or a workshop. If staff are always on the road, you may need another method.

2. What happens when the internet drops

Check that events are stored on the terminal and uploaded later. Otherwise days without a connection disappear from reports.

3. Do you need timesheets and payroll

If you only need arrival and departure times, a simple plan is enough. If you need monthly timesheets and payroll, keep them in the same system as attendance so data is not entered twice.

4. How is the price calculated

Pricing can be per employee, per company or per terminal. Ask about minimum payments and extra services. Work out the monthly total for your own headcount and compare.

5. Branches and permissions

With several branches, each needs its own schedule and manager. Check that employee, manager and accountant rights are separated.

6. Links to other software

If you run 1C or another system, ask about the API and export options. This saves you from moving data by hand.
